–Ayase, your skin is always shining. Has Corona Damages changed your attitude toward beauty?
Maiko Ayase (Ayase) Yes, not only my beauty but also my way of life itself has changed. First of all, I used to be very busy taking care of my whole body before a photo shoot, including beauty treatments, bodywork, nail care, head spas, and teeth whitening. I used to go to about 9 to 11 different places every month. But with the Corona disaster, I stopped all of that.
–Why is that?
Ayase: First of all, when the store was closed due to the emergency declaration, I was very nervous and distraught. I thought, “What am I going to do, I won’t be able to keep my old self. But then I thought, “Wait a minute. I thought, “It’s my body, I’ll do what I can by myself first. Yes, the key word is “self-centeredness,” and I think this can be said to mean not leaving your beauty to others.
–Yes, indeed. What did you start to do?
Ayase: First of all, when I wake up in the morning, I open the curtain and stretch in the morning sun. Then I pat my body while taking a shower, and after washing my face, I give my face a massage. Not only did I start to do this kind of self-care for my physical body, but I also started to take care of my mind through meditation as well.
–Do you meditate to take care of your mind? Is there a particular method you use?
Ayase: I do “mantra meditation,” which is chanting short words called mantras repeatedly in my mind. This is a meditation that Cameron Diaz and Lady Gaga are said to do, and I do it for 20 minutes every morning. As I continue to meditate, I feel more relaxed, my breathing becomes easier, and my irritability and anxiety gradually fade away. Meditation may sound like a religious practice, but I continue to do it because I think it is a massage for my mind. This is truly “healing.
–Mental massage, huh? Does meditation also lead to beauty?
Ayase Of course, meditation does not cure acne or remove blemishes. But it will calm your stressed out mind, and make you feel more relaxed about things that were bothering you, like “it’s not such a big deal”, or even if you thought you didn’t like that person, you can feel more relaxed, like “maybe he’s not such a jerk”. That’s why my expression becomes calm. This is exactly how you can become “supple”.
–I see. But really, we tend to take care of our bodies but forget to take care of our minds, don’t we?
Ayase: Yes, I don’t mean to imply that we live in a stressful society today, but with the overload of information and the complexity of human relationships, just being alive can be mentally exhausting. That’s why it’s absolutely important to take care of not only your body but also your mental fatigue. Every day, the body is definitely aging, so it is essential to keep the mind fresh and new.
–Only the mind is brand new. It’s good.
Ayase Yes, yes. I think that being brand new in this way will lead to a careful lifestyle. Take care of yourself, take care of the relationships around you, and enjoy sex to the fullest!
–Ayase What are your unique sexual pleasures?
Ayase I think it’s about having secrets (laughs).
–Is it a secret?
Ayase It’s something that is absolutely unacceptable in the world, but for example, having an affair. When a woman is in the heat of the moment with her boyfriend, I think she has a great expression. Not a cheerful expression because it’s a secret, but a shadowy, ennui-like expression. Also, when they are agonizing over their secret “sexual desires” that they can’t tell anyone about, or when they are doing it in secret. I feel like I exude a little pheromone.
–Well, what is Ayase’s unique secret?
